West Stow Anglo Saxon Centre & Country Park

West Stow Anglo Saxon Centre & Country Park

West Stow is the site of an Anglo-Saxon settlement occupied 420 – 650AD. Today there is a unique reconstructed Anglo-Saxon Village built on the original settlement site, giving visitors the opportunity to touch and experience Anglo-Saxon houses as we imagine them to have been. Visitors can also see the archaeological finds from the site on display in a specially built Anglo-Saxon Centre.

The story of West Stow is brought to life when the Village hosts living history costume groups during holiday periods (please call for details). These events give visitors the chance to interact with these modern day Anglo-Saxons and learn more about all aspects of their day-to-day life at West Stow. Schools and other groups are welcome provided they are booked in advance.

The Village is set within a 125 acre Country Park with heath, river, lake and woodland, plus a nature trail, café, shop and children’s play area.
Opening Times
The Anglo-Saxon Village and Anglo-Saxon Centre are open from 10am-5pm daily (last entry 4pm in Summer, 3.30pm in Winter). The Country Park is open from 9am-5pm in winter; 9am-8pm in summer. Cafe and shop opening hours vary seasonally; please check.
